- Grab the Strength bonus from your equipment tab's stats page and enter it.
- Pick your attack style, potion and prayer; read your maximum hit instantly.
How the max hit formula works
Two steps, exactly as documented on the OSRS Wiki:
effective = floor( ( floor( floor(level + potion) x prayer ) + style + 8 ) x void ) max hit = floor( 0.5 + effective x (strengthBonus + 64) / 640 ) Worked example (our defaults): 99 Strength with a super strength potion gains floor(99 x 15%) + 5 = 19 levels, giving 118. Piety multiplies that to a floored 145, the aggressive style and the formula's constant 8 bring it to 156, and with a +126 strength bonus the final max hit is 46.

What this calculator doesn't include
It computes the base melee max hit only. Special attacks (armadyl godsword 1.375x, dragon warhammer 1.5x and friends), effects like Dharok's falling-health bonus, the Keris kalphite double-hit, obsidian weapon bonuses and the 200 damage cap are outside this model. Each of those multiplies the base hit differently, so check the OSRS Wiki page for the specific effect.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find my equipment strength bonus?
In game: open your equipment tab and press the "stats" overlay. The Strength row is your total bonus, typically 120-130 for end-game melee setups.
Do potions and prayers stack?
Yes, in a specific order: the potion adds levels first, then the prayer multiplies the total. That order matters because of the flooring at each step.
Why is there a +8 in the formula?
It is a constant in the game's effective strength calculation, applied regardless of style. It exists so that a level 1 character with no equipment still has a max hit of 1 rather than 0.
Does this work for Ranged or Magic?
No. Ranged and Magic use different strength concepts (ranged strength, spell base damage) with their own formulas. This page is melee only.
Does my combat style change the max hit?
Yes, by its strength bonus: Aggressive adds 3 effective levels, Controlled adds 1, Accurate and Defensive add 0. On a typical end-game setup that is worth about 1 point of max hit.
