How to use the XP calculator
- Enter your current XP (check it on the in-game skills tab or hiscores).
- Choose your target level; 99 is the default.
- Add your XP per hour (and optionally XP per action) for time and action estimates.
How the XP curve works
Old School RuneScape uses a single exponential curve for every skill. The XP needed to reach level L accumulates points:
points(n) = floor(n + 300 × 2^(n/7)); XP(L) = floor(Σ points(n) ÷ 4), n = 1…L−1 Two famous consequences: level 92 costs about half the XP of 99 (6.5M vs 13.0M), and the final level alone (98 → 99) costs 1,228,825 XP; roughly a tenth of the whole skill.
Counting actions, not just hours
The action count is where planning gets real: 6.5M XP at 40 XP per action is about 163,000 actions. If an action takes 3 seconds of attention, that's the difference between a weekend project and a month of evenings. Frequently asked questions
How much XP is level 99?
13,034,431 XP exactly, in every skill. Level 92 is 6,517,253 XP, which is why people say "92 is half of 99".
Why is 92 half of 99?
The curve is exponential: each level costs about 10% more XP than the last. Doubling total XP from 92 only buys seven more levels, so the last levels dominate the grind.
Where do I find a realistic XP per hour?
The OSRS Wiki's skill training guides list XP rates per method. Pick the rate for your method and your setup, then discount it a little for banking, mistakes and human speed.
Do lamps, books and bonus XP count?
Yes, they all add plain XP, so just add them to your current XP total. This calculator only models the total, not where it came from.
Can you calculate past 99 (virtual levels / 200M)?
Not yet; the table here covers levels 1-99. If you're chasing 200M XP, know that it's 200,000,000 XP total, about 15.3× a 99.
